Independent Students

You can be considered an independent student only if you meet both the following requirements (in accordance with art. 8, comma 2 of DPCM 5 December 2013, n.159):

  • Residing outside the family of origin’s housing unit, in a property not owned by a family member. The residence must be documented in official public records and must have been established for at least two years prior to the date of the document submission.
  • Earning a gross income of at least 9.000 euros per year, exclusively from subordinate or similar employment, not under a family member. The income must have been declared in the tax return for at least two years preceding the year of enrollment.

If you are an independent EU student, you must pay your tuition fee adjusted to your economic situation.

STUDENT RESIDING ABROAD 

If you reside abroad, in order to have your equivalent I.S.E.E. calculated for a.y. 2024/25, you must submit via FiloDiretto (Direct Line) all the following documents converted in one PDF file:

  • Composition of your family unit, certifying your residence outside the family nucleus;
  • Gross income produced in the calendar years 2022 and 2023
  • Real estate properties owned as of 31 December 2023, specifying the relative surface area in square meters, or the absence of properties; 
  • Amount of movable assets as of 31 December 2023.

If you do not meet the requirements to be considered an independent student, you must submit additional documentation. Specifically:

  • If your family resides abroad too: you must provide the financial documents related also to your family’s income and assets. 
  • If your family resides in Italy: you must also submit the ISEE Ordinario 2024.

STUDENT RESIDING IN ITALY

If you reside in Italy, in order to have your “All-inclusive fee” calculated for a.y. 2024/25, you will need to obtain the ISEE Università 2024.

If you do not meet the requirements to be considered an independent student, you must either integrate the existing documentation or submit different documents. Specifically:

  • If your family resides in Italy too: you must integrate your ISEE Università 2024 with that of your family. 
  • If your family resides abroad, you must provide different documentation: ISEE Ordinario 2024 and the financial documents related to your family’s income and assets.

1. FLAT RATE

If you are an independent Non-EU student, you have the possibility to pay the tuition fee based on the Flat Rate.

2. TUITION FEE ADJUSTED TO THE FAMILY’S ECONOMIC SITUATION

Independent Non-EU students also have the possibility to pay the tuition fee adjusted to their economic situation.
