These grants (lasting from 1 to 3 years) are awarded to Master’s degree holders with a scientific and professional CV that is coherent with the research activity to be performed. Please note that a PhD constitutes a preferential title.

OPENING A BANK ACCOUNT
If you currently don't have a bank account within the SEPA zone and wish to open one, you can do so only after arriving in Italy and obtaining the residence permit.
Only the bank “Banca Popolare di Sondrio” (Piazzale Ponte Coperto Ticino 11, Pavia), as the University’s treasury institution, allows you to open a bank account by providing just the receipt of the residence permit application.
In order to open an account with Banca Popolare di Sondrio, you need to book an appointment by sending an email to pavia.succursale@popso.it
Documents to attach in the email:
- Passport or valid ID
- Tax Identification Number (TIN) from your country of residence
- Address in your country of residence
- Italian Tax Code (issued by the Italian embassy/consulate or Agenzia delle Entrate)
- Address in Italy
- Italian mobile phone number
- Copy of your contract or scholarship agreement
- Residence Permit or receipt of the Residence Permit application (when applicable)
The same documents must be presented in person during the appointment.
SMART CARD
The Smart Card is a magnetic card that entitles holders to a range of services:
- Library loan services, once registered at one of the University libraries;
- Access to the "Learning Space Cravino" (via Bassi 2, first floor), which is the new unified location for the Science Library (housing collections and services from the Physics, Chemistry and Pharmacy libraries);
- Access to the San Tommaso Library (piazza del Lino 2);
- Access to some University areas with controlled entry gates;
- Access to water dispensers in the following buildings:
- Engineering Department, C floor (via Ferrata 1)
- San Tommaso Palace (piazza del Lino 2)
- Chemistry Department (via Taramelli 12)
- Botta 2 Library (via Ferrata 9)
- Physics Department (via Bassi 6)
- Economics Department (via San Felice 5)
- Campus Aquae buildings (via Cascinazza 29)
- Bordeaux Building at the Engineering Department (via Ferrata);
- Access to bathrooms with controlled entry gates on the Central Campus
