Patents
A patent is an exclusive right granted for an invention, which can be a product or a process, allowing, in general, to do something in a new way or providing a new technical solution to a problem. In order to obtain a patent for the invention, technical information must be publicly disclosed through the patent application. The patent holder has the exclusive right to prevent others from commercially exploiting the patented invention or to stop them. In other words, patent protection means that the invention cannot be marketed, used, distributed, imported, or sold by others without the consent of the patent holder.
