Students with family unit residing abroad

PLEASE NOTE: you can ask for the recalculation of the “All-inclusive fee” due for the a.y. 2023/24 by sending the 2022 financial documentation within the 30th September 2024. A penalty of 165 euros will be charged (reduced to €115 if the documents are sent within 15 days after the deadline).

In this page you will find all the information regarding the documentation required for the calculation of the equivalent I.S.E.E. and its procedures of translation and legalization.

EQUIVALENT I.S.E.E. CALCULATION

The equivalent I.S.E.E. will be calculated as follows:

  • Total family’s annual income (the amount is converted in euro using Bank of Italy’s “Annual average exchange rate” of the previous year). Please check here for a.y. 2024/25.
  • 20% of the family’s real estate properties (in order to calculate the value of the buildings, 1 square meter corresponds to €500)
  • 20% of the family’s movable assets

The above-mentioned elements must be summed up and then divided by an equivalent scale coefficient, as established by DPCM 159/13 n. 159

The value of the coefficient is as follows: 1 for one family member; 1,57 for two members; 2,04 for three members; 2,46 for four members; 2,85 for five members. From the sixth member onwards the coefficient increases by 0.35 for each additional member. Moreover, the value of the coefficient increases by 0.5 for each family member with disabilities.

DOCUMENTS TO SUBMIT

If both you and your family reside abroad, in order to have your equivalent I.S.E.E. calculated for a.y. 2024/25, you must submit via FiloDiretto (Direct Line) all the following documents converted in one PDF file:

  • Composition of your family unit, including all family members and cohabiting persons, specifying any family members with serious disabilities;
  • Gross income produced by each family member, or unemployment status, in the calendar year 2023
  • Real estate properties owned by the family unit as of 31 December 2023, specifying the relative surface area in square meters, or the absence of properties;
  • Amount of movable assets of your family unit as of 31 December 2023.

DEADLINES AND PENALTIES

The financial documents must be sent from 3rd June 2024 to 24th October 2024

EXCEPTIONS: if you enroll after 24th October 2024, you will have 15 days from the receipt of the “Welcome email” to submit your documentation without penalties.

If you don’t meet the deadline:

  • EU students: the maximum “All-inclusive fee” bracket will be applied;
  • Non-EU students: the Flat Rate option (based on citizenship) will be automatically applied.

EDiSU BENEFITS

If you apply for EDiSU benefits, you are not required to submit the same documentation to the University, since EDiSU itself will transmit your data to the University’s Tax Office.

All the documents must be issued by the competent authorities of the country in which the income is generated and the real estate properties and movable assets are owned. They also must be translated into Italian and legalized by the Italian diplomatic authorities responsible for the specific territory.

EXCEPTIONS

  • For countries belonging to the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961 the legalization can be done through Apostille. Please check here to find out the competent authority to issue the Apostille in each country.
  • The legalization is not necessary for documents issued by administrative authorities in the following countries: Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Latvia (Brussels Convention of 25 May 1987), Germany (Rome Convention of 7 June 1969), and Hungary (Budapest Convention of 26 May 1977).
  • The legalization is not necessary for documents issued by a foreign diplomatic or consular representation with offices in Italy for countries belonging to the London Convention of 7 June 1968 or the Brussels Convention of 25 May 1987.

For countries where there are particular difficulties in issuing certification legalized by the local Italian authority, certification issued by the diplomatic or consular representation in Italy of the country in which the incomes are generated and assets are held may be presented, drafted in Italian and legalized by the Prefectures, pursuant to art. 33 of Presidential Decree 445 of 28 December 2000.

PLEASE NOTE: the University doesn’t accept any form of self-certification, affidavit, substitute statement or sworn declaration referring to income and/or assets abroad. If any of these are submitted, they will not be taken into consideration.
