Application procedures for international students can change according to your status, check below if you are a EU or non-Eu prospective student:

You are considered a non-EU prospective student if both conditions apply:

  1. your previous qualification was awarded outside the Italian education system;
  2. you are a non-EU citizen residing outside Italy.

Non-EU prospective students residing outside Italy must apply for a study visa for Italy (type D). Find more here.

There is a limited number of seats available for non-EU students in each program (called contingente): check here the available seats for non-eu for your favorite program for the a.y. 2026-27.

You are considered an EU or EU-equivalent prospective student if you belong to one of the following categories:

  • you are a citizen of an EU country;
  • you are a citizen of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, San Marino or Vatican City State;
  • you have dual citizenship, and one of your citizenships is from an EU country;
  • you are an Italian citizen;
  • you are a non-EU citizen regularly residing in Italy with a valid residence permit;
  • you are a non-EU citizen holding an EU long-term residence permit.

EU and EU-equivalent prospective students do not need a study visa for Italy
