Educational goals
The Science and Technique of Adapted and Preventive Motor Activity course sets out to train specialist graduates who will acquire knowledge and practical skills relating to different types of physical and sporting activity, with a view to achieving and maintaining the psycho-physical well-being and health of the target group.. Master's degree graduates will be able to work independently in public and private facilities. The graduate will be able to plan for and administer physical activity programmes aimed at achieving and maintaining an optimal state of psychophysical well-being in persons from different age groups in varying physical conditions. He/she will be able to organise and plan specific activities and lifestyles aimed at preventing disease and improving the quality of life of the target group through exercise. The graduate will also be able to help prevent postural defects, aid post-rehabilitation functional recovery to optimise physical efficiency, and plan, coordinate and evaluate adapted physical activities for persons with disabilities or for individuals in a clinically controlled and stabilised health condition. The Course is organised to achieve the following specific educational objectives: - To provide an in-depth understanding of morphological, functional and physical aspects underpinning the analysis and interpretation of the functioning of the human body in movement. This includes healthy persons as well as individuals with controlled and stabilised pathologies, persons with sundry disabilities or functional limitations, evaluating the impact of these conditions on physical activities in all their forms. - To foster the acquisition of technical, teaching and methodological competences applicable to motor activities, with a focus on the functional assessment of human movement, both at individual and group level. To help with the planning of exercise programmes and adapted sporting activity programmes, aimed at healthy persons and persons with stabilised pathologies, to raise their psycho-physical well-being. - To offer a basic knowledge of pedagogical and psychological sciences, with a focus on theoretical and methodological contributions applicable to adapted sport and exercise activities. Studies will be adapted to the socio-cultural needs, stages of development of the individual and related learning processes. - To provide knowledge about the organisational principles relating to adapted sporting events, including the regulations and mechanisms governing sports bodies. - To provide interdisciplinary preparation in the biomedical, psycho-pedagogical, legal-sociological and sport-exercise areas, providing the knowledge base for the training of physical education teachers in schools. In order to achieve these specific educational objectives, the Course is structured in such a way as to make progress over the two years, following an educational path that initially focuses on basic medical aspects before moving on to the acquisition of operational and applicative skills in the sport-exercise area. In the first year, students acquire fundamental competences in the bio-medical, psycho-pedagogical, sociological and sport-exercise areas, in the following year this knowledge is explored in greater depth and supplemented with complementary competences. The educational path is divided into four main areas, described as follows: - Biomedical subjects, focusing on the acquisition and application of advanced competences in the areas of human physiology, with particular emphasis on the impact of this knowledge on sport and exercise activities in all their forms in preventive and adapted settings. - Psychological, sociological and pedagogical subjects, aimed at understanding the theoretical and methodological contributions of psychological and pedagogical sciences applicable to sport and exercise activities, adapting them to socio-cultural needs, the stages of development of individuals and related learning processes. - Sociological subjects, aimed at understanding the organisational and regulatory mechanisms of sports institutions and the management and planning of sporting events. - Subjects pertaining to sport and exercise activities, for the acquisition and application of technical, teaching and methodological competences related to physical education and sporting activities, with a focus on the functional assessment of human movement, both at individual and group level, and adapted sports. Programmes are aimed at both healthy persons and persons with stabilised pathologies, with the goal of promoting their psycho-physical well-being. As regards sport and exercise subjects, the different types of physical and sporting activities are examined in subjects belonging to core educational activities. These course subjects include technical and hands-on activities that are developed over the two-year course. They are an essential component of teaching activities, fully contributing to the achievement of the course's specific educational objectives. These activities are organised by course subject lecturers, and are carried out at university facilities or at appropriate venues in terms of size, technical characteristics and number of students. The Course is designed to offer students comprehensive and integrated training and specific advanced studies with the aid of related and supplementary activities. These activities complement the core subjects and are designed to develop specialist competences required of the graduate in Science and Technique of Adapted and Preventive Motor Activity. Course subjects in the medical-clinical and engineering-IT areas provide vitally important soft skills that are applicable to all professional profiles, including the figure of the kinesiologist responsible for conducting preventive and adapted physical exercise activities. The Course also offers a wide range of optional course subjects, enabling students to explore motor activities in their various forms. This programme flexibility allows the course to be customised to individual interests and professional objectives. The course includes internships undertaken at suitable authorised facilities both locally and as part of international agreements. These internships are designed to heighten the level of knowledge acquired on topics covered during the educational path and to acquire specific vocational abilities. The course has a final examination, designed to assess not only how much has been learned but also the student's powers of expression and concision. Finally, the Course offers graduates the opportunity to develop language skills in at least one European Union language in addition to Italian, allowing them to be fluent in written and oral form in their professional lives. The Course aims to provide comprehensive and multidisciplinary training, preparing graduates to become highly qualified and versatile professionals
Career opportunities
