Students enrolled in or graduated from a foreign university

ATTENTION: For free access courses, the procedure will be active for:

  • Candidates with EU and non-EU citizenship: from January 9, 2025, to June 6, 2025.
  • Candidates with EU and non-EU citizenship only if resident in Italy: from September 1 to September 11, 2025.

For restricted-access courses, please refer to the relevant announcements to learn about the timing and procedure to follow.

Procedure for free access courses
  1. Register on this portal.
  2. Access the menu (top right corner) and select "Secretary > Evaluation Test."
  3. Choose "Evaluation competition for foreign career pre-evaluations and transfer from foreign universities" from the menu on the "List of competitions" page.
  4. Select the name of the study course of interest from the list on the "Preferences - Expressing preferences related to the chosen evaluation test" page.
  5. Upload the required documentation on the "Management of qualifications and documents for evaluation" page.
  6. Confirm and submit the application.
  7. Pay the application fee of 51 euros.

 

Procedure for restricted-access courses
  • Who can apply for a transfer

EU Students and Non-EU students legally residing in Italy.

ATTENTION:There are NO available seats for Non-EU students residing abroad (who will need a study visa) or with a residence permit for study purposes for less than 12 months.

 

  • When and how to apply for a transfer

The Bachelor's, Master's, and Professional degree courses with restricted access (local or national) have specific announcements indicating the procedures, deadlines, and available seats for submitting an application for evaluation.

The procedure is indicated on the following webpage.

A. Original academic degree certificate (or certified copy or substitute certificate) allowing enrollment in the chosen study course (bachelor's/master's single-cycle* and master's), officially translated into Italian**, and

  1. legalized*** by the Italian diplomatic representations located in the country where the degree was obtained
  2. or bearing an 'Apostille' stamp from the competent local authorities for countries adhering to the Hague Convention of 05.10.1961;
  3. or Verification Certificate issued by CIMEA - request it (login here to request it).

**In the case of a degree issued in English, Spanish, and French, translation is not required.

B1. Correspondence Certificate downloadable from the Automatic Recognition Database (ARDI) - if the degree was obtained in one of the signatory countries of the Lisbon Convention;

OR

B2. Declaration of Value issued by the competent Italian diplomatic representation or Certificate of Comparability issued by CIMEA (login here to request it) or Diploma Supplement issued by the university of origin - if the degree was NOT obtained in one of the signatory countries of the Lisbon Convention;

C. Transcript of records/previous university career certificate;

D. List of exams taken with their translation into Italian or English;

E. Any other relevant titles/attachments for the evaluation of the previous career;

F. In case of lack of a valid residence permit in Italy, certification of knowledge of the Italian language at level B2 of the Council of Europe or higher (CILS, CELI, Roma3, or PLIDA) issued within the CLIQ (Italian Language Certification of Quality) quality system is necessary. Note: for master's degree courses taught in English, certified knowledge of that language at a specific level is required; in this case, certification of the Italian language is not a requirement for enrollment.

 

For bachelor's degree courses, if the high school diploma was obtained after a period of schooling of less than 12 years, in order to make up for the missing schooling, it will be necessary to present, alternatively:

  • An academic certification attesting the passing of all exams required for the first year or the first two years of university studies if the education system of the country of origin is respectively eleven or ten years;
  • An official Italian or foreign title of post-secondary studies obtained in a non-university higher education institution and related to the chosen course, lasting one year or two years if the education system of the country of origin is respectively eleven or ten years;
  • Certifications regarding the completion of preparatory courses (Foundation Course) that compensate for the missing years of schooling.

Such certifications are subject to the same formalities required for the academic degree.

** Translation into Italian may be required at the discretion of the Offices and/or the Evaluation Commission.

*** Legalization of documents is not required for Belgium, Denmark, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, France, Ireland (European Convention on the Recognition of the Legal Personality of Foreign Companies), and Germany (Italian-German Convention 1969); it is also not required for documents that present an electronic/digital verification method of their truthfulness (QR code/code string).
